The FDA plans to remove 12 peptide bulk drug substances from Category 2 of the Section 503A compounding list after their nominations were withdrawn. For compounders, the key issue is that this change does not automatically make compounding these substances permissible, leaving pharmacies exposed to ongoing regulatory uncertainty until the FDA makes further decisions.
