Highway Chase Ends in Deadly Standoff | Fresno News

A high-speed chase erupted Thursday morning on Highway 101 in Paso Robles after police attempted to apprehend a man wanted for felony stalking. The suspect, fleeing in a truck, slammed into a patrol car, sped up to 95 mph, and crashed near the Niblick Road overpass. When he exited the vehicle armed with a handgun, deputies opened fire — killing him instantly. No officers were injured. Authorities are now investigating, and the highway remained shut down for much of the day. The suspect’s identity has not been released.
