Many people believe robots will replace humans as companions, friends, and especially for sex. But VR, AR, and XR may fulfill that role long before. By hijacking the senses of site and hearing, not to mention with haptic technology, it is possible to simulate an inherent instinctual desire that may lead to extinction instead. Or, it could drive people to find the real world.
