E747 - Conversing With A Spiritual Council

This episode I am reading from Richard Martini's book 'AI AND THE FLIPSIDE: Artificial Intelligence Pictures Itself in a Boat on a River'.

 

Is AI sentient? Before we try to answer that question; what about humans? Are we sentient? (Some would argue it’s debatable.) Can we give a Turing test (the test to evaluate if a machine exhibits intelligent behavior) to see if humans are actually thinking for themselves instead of using the “bag of crack” they carry around all day? (i.e., the “dopamine device” called a “Smart Phone”.)
